How would I use and why would I use the RSS Syndication feature for my E-mails?

Now, this is kind of similar to the Twitter question that I just answered a moment ago. And basically, RSS, as you may know, stands for Real Simple Syndication. You typically see this in blogs where you’ve got the little RSS icons, little orange with white quarter circles on it? Well, your list in AWeber has an RSS feed, as well. So, when you click on syndicate, and you see the Twitter option and another option that shows up is published to blog RSS archive. So, you would use this for the same reason to publish Twitter. You want to get your message in front of more and more people. Okay?

I’ve heard that I can publish my E-mails to Twitter. How do I do that?

Well, this is a feature right now that is exclusive to AWeber. The way that you do it, you can only do this with your broadcast messages. You cannot do it with your auto-responder messages nor would you really want to. So, the way that this happens, and you know if you haven’t seen this already, just go look in my own feed at Twitter.com/BobTheTeacher, and you’ll see how these messages come out. It will basically post Twitter with your subject line, and then a direct link to a web version of your E-mail. If you use the .html version of your messages that basically puts an entirely new webpage on the internet with your link pointing to whatever you want it to. So, really powerful and it also helps to spread the word about what you’re writing in your E-mails to people on Twitter, which can also then post on Facebook and so forth.

How can I use a signature area more effectively?

Now, this question came in talking specifically about AWeber, you can find at BestEmailDelivery.com and actually, the next couple of questions deal with AWeber as well. But most E-mail services, auto-responders have some form of signature. Now, typical signature is simply what you put at the bottom of the message. But, in this case, what we’re talking about is a specific “tag” that you can use in your E-mail, so that it automatically puts in specific content that you’ve designated as your signature.

How do I format my E-mails for easier readability?

So, you might often or you might have seen that many E-mails that I send to you and you receive from others, and then the lines are actually rather skinny, so to speak. The lines don’t wrap all the way to the end of the text box, instead, they’d cut off around the 6th or 8th word. So, there’s a couple of ways to do this. One of the quick ways to do it, if you want, if you have some existing content, you can copy and paste your message into a little system that I’ve put up online at FormatMyEmail.com. Go to FormatMyEmail.com, copy and paste your message that already exists, into that box. And then, put into the box below, how many characters you want your lines to be.

How do I get more people to open my E-mails?

This is one of those age old questions that everybody wants to know the answer to. And I know that I would always like to improve mine, as well. So, here are a few ways that I recommend to you and I also pay attention to, to get more of my E-mails open. First and foremost, you need to have better subject lines. Your subject lines are – that’s the area of your message that pops up into the E-mail. They need to know what your message is going to be about. So, make sure your subject line is provocative enough for them to open up. But, don’t try to do anything real salacious, “scammy” type of messages, because that will disappoint people if it’s going the wrong direction. So, ask a question, use the person’s name, these are types of ways to increase the open rate of your message.

What’s the difference between broadcast and follow-up messages?

A broadcast message is when you send out a message to everybody who is on your list at the same exact time and in one point in time. So if I send out a broadcast today on Monday night at 10:18, anybody who joins my list at 10:19 does not get that e-mail. Broadcast messages are very good for you to send messages that are very time sensitive.

A follow-up message is a message that goes out to a person after they’ve been in your list for a certain period of time. You’ll have an immediate message that goes out right when somebody joins and then you’ll have messages go out every four or five days, maybe ten days.

Should I buy e-mail leads to market my products and services to?

95% of the time I will answer no, you should not buy e-mail leads. I think it’s not a wise investment and it’s also prone to, again, SPAM complaints and things like that. Really want to use e-mail marketing in a smart way to advertise, to promote, to converse, to connect with people who know you are ready or have somehow become introduced to you. Now, if you do buy e-mail leads there’s a couple of resources I can suggest to you. If you’re in network marketing and you want to get some e-mail leads one of the source’s I would recommend is youroppseekers.com, and if you’re in the regular bricks and mortars type business you might want to look at infousa.com.

Should I send HTML or text only messages?

Actually the real answer to that is you should do both. You should send HTML and you should send text messages and a good auto responder service, AWeber’s one of those, does allow you to do both, most of them will do so and at least if they’re a good auto responder service. The reason you want to do both is because who have HTML browsers, they’re using something like MSN or Hotmail or Yahoo or Gmail, they are able to see the HTML very easily and it’s actually easier to read if you actually design your HTML newsletter the right way.

Do I really need an autoresponder?

This is a common question I get especially when I’m networking in person with local business owners. Using Outlook or any other type of e-mail software on your computer to manage your e-mail marketing is a mistake. It is time consuming. It is prone to errors, it’s not very productive and you can actually have SPAM complaints that you could really be penalized for and fined. Okay? So you don’t want to deliver from your own e-mail account in order to market your business on a massive scale.

How often should I send emails to my list without being pushy?

That’s a very cool question and I like it because it’s obviously concise and to the point. So let me take it in each part. First of all, how much? How much should you try to promote in your e-mails in order to drive your business forward? Well, in my line of experience, in my line of work, I try to coach people towards branding themselves as an expert in their field.
